Researcher - Agronomy/Plant Physiology (RRS-2009-143-BB)
Basic purpose : To characterize annual and perennial rice species for root and shoot response to water deficit and for recovery purpose. To develop high-capacity screening techniques for traits contributing to drought tolerance and to identify the progeny at an early stage under soil water stress and to test genetic resource as donor genes for perennial upland rice tolerance for water stress.

Specialist – Germplasm Web Portal Development (PRS-2009-26-ER)
Basic purpose : To develop and maintain the flagship web portal (seeds.irri.org) documenting IRRI germplasm research activities and resources, including interfaces relating to an ITPGRF Acompliant online seed ordering system.

- M.Sc. Computer Science or B.Sc. with significant relevant work experience;

Basic purpose:
The successful candidate shall manage nurseries of hybrid rice seed production, hybrid rice yield trials, and hybrid germplasm seed inventory.

Basic purpose:
To manage and store the data generated by the Quality Evaluation Program, to manage and store the data from the projects of the International Network for Quality Rice, fully implement the International Rice Information System (IRIS) in the unit; document every incoming and outgoing sample; manage maintenance of the equipment in the Grain Quality, Nutrition, and Postharvest Center (GQNPC) laboratories; and manage the financial data of the unit.

- A Masters degree or units towards one in a relevant discipline is an advantage;

Basic purpose:
To conduct strategic and applied research in promotion and dissemination of resource conserving technologies. Develop in- house capacity for the geo-spatial technologies and spatial knowledge database for addressing various issues related to major cereal systems (Rice-Wheat and Rice-Maize) of South Asia.

Course: Masters or PhD in Geography or related discipline of physical sciences

Qualification requirements:
- Good knowledge and experience (at least 6-7 years) in field of remote sensing and GIS;
- Good Knowledge of ERDAS/ENVI and ARC GIS;

Basic purpose:

Basic purpose:
To explore all opportunities to use photography as an effective communication medium for the Institute and as support to CPS publications and multimedia imaging requirements. He/She shall also implement pro-active, responsible, efficient, and client-centered service and assistance to OUs/projects with their photographic needs and requirements.

Course: Bachelor of Arts degree. Primary field of study would be visual communication or advertising

Qualification requirements:
- At least 3 years of work experience in any one of the following industries: advertising photographic studios, corporate communication, medical photography or any related scientific photography work, news and photo bureaus;
- Working knowledge in digital photographic imaging processes, print/presentation production, advancing technologies in electronic multimedia communication delivery and cross-platform OS proficiency;

Basic purpose:
To assume responsibility for the protection and safeguarding of Institute-owned assets from possible losses. He/She shall ascertain that receipts and subsequent movements of property, plant and equipment are properly recorded, documented and fully accounted for. He/She shall also monitor warehouse stock movements of the Institute.

- CPA;
- Five years experience preferably in a multi-national or non-profit firm;

Senior Librarian – Collection and Development (RAS-2009-91-MR)
Basic purpose:
To plan, manage, and coordinate the strengthening and development of the Library’s technical resources by carefully searching, evaluating, selecting, and acquiring print, non-print, and electronic resources. He/She will also manage the Readers’ Services (Circulation) Section by planning and coordinating activities involving loans, recalls, renewals, reminders, holds, and interlibrary loans.

Course: BLIS or BLS or Master’s degree in Library or Information Science;

Qualification requirements:
- Holder of a Professional Librarian’s License;
- At least 3 years of experience in automated library acquisitions work; 1 year of experience in electronic acquisitions;

To assist the Assistant Manager II to organize, coordinate and monitor events such as meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences and special events in and outside of IRRI (Philippine territory only). Play a crucial team role in EVO in delivering excellent events coordination services to clients.

System Analyst/Programmer (RRS-2009-60-TM)
Basic purpose:
The systems analyst/programmer will develop, maintain, document, and test one or more modules of the ICIS software under the technical supervision of the associate scientist for germplasm information systems. The systems analyst/ programmer will provide specialist data curation support for internal and external ICIS users.

Course: MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Qualification requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in information software development;
- System analysis and software development experience in several programming languages.

System Analyst/Programmer (PAS-2009-62-TM)
Basic purpose:
To collaborate with the CRIL team of programmers in designing and implementing ICIS molecular breeding applications and coordinate the development activities with and provide training to IARC, NARES, and ARI partners within the project “Molecular marker technologies for faster wheat breeding in India”

Basic purpose:
To work in a team at IRRI to design, implement, test, document, and support software applications and decision tools associated with the dissemination of improved management of nutrients, soil, and organic materials for rice-based systems

- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in relational database programming;

Basic purpose:
To manage and ensure the security, integrity, and consistency of the database of the International Network for Genetic Evaluation of Rice (INGER). He/She will also facilitate information exchange among INGER collaborators through an INGER website.

Qualification requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience;
- Strong experience in relational database management systems;

Basic purpose:
To participate in a team of programmers and technologists designing and implementing bioinformatics information systems for CIMMYT within the DTMA and WEMA projects.

- Minimum 2 years' experience in database administration and design. Expertise in Java systems software; development. Strong motivation and ability for self management of time and resources;
- Database administration, systems analysis and design;
- Experience in Java within an open- source environment;

Research/Administrative Assistant (PRS-2009-45-ZA)
Basic purpose:
To provide secretarial and administrative support to the Officer – administrative coordination, keeping track of project-related correspondence and handling correspondence for project-related workshops and meetings. Giving basic technical support; preparing reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; database management; and visiting and monitoring project sites.

Qualification requirements:
- At least 7 years of experience in basic agriculture and cropping systems, database management, report writing, and administration;

Basic purpose:
To assist researchers and scientists involved in the Rice and Climate Change Consortium (RCCC) in field and laboratory.

Course: Open to all courses

Qualification requirements:
- At least 3 years experience in rice field operations and must have worked in a chemical laboratory;
- Must know how to drive;
- Knowledge in plant and soil and gas sampling techniques;
- Can operate grinders, balance, threshers, seed sorter and other field tools.

Researcher (PRS-2009-126-BB)
Basic purpose:
To provide technical support for the conduct of weed science experiments, assist higher level scientists in the preparation of data and materials, and operate laboratory equipment.

Course: BS Biology, BS Agriculture – agro, BS botany, agronomy, or similar related to plant sciences

Qualification requirements:
- One year of relevant experience either in research or field work;
- Knowledgeable on laboratory techniques and field experimentation; good oral and written communication skills.

Technician II – Research (PRS-2009-90-SP)
Basic purpose:
To provide support to scientists and researchers in conducting and maintaining different field, greenhouse, and phytotron experiments using standard protocols set by researchers to enable them to generate desired results within the set time frame.

Course: Open to all courses

Qualification requirements:
- At least 6 months experience in field and greenhouse experimentation;
- Computer, driving, and good communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to work in a team.

Researcher (PRS-2009-89-JS)
Basic purpose:
To play a key role in creating mutant populations that will lead to the identification of the 'C4' genes.

Course: BS Molecular Biology with background on Plant Physiology

Qualification requirements:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in molecular biology;
- Understanding the difference between C3 and C4 plants in terms of physiology;
- Knowledge in handling laboratory works and protocol establishment;
- Screening and phenotypic evaluation under field and greenhouse conditions;
- Excellent skills on modern molecular biology laboratory techniques such as those involving mutagenesis work, DNA and RNA handling and analysis, PCR;
- Profound understanding of molecular processes and molecular techniques;
- Knowledgeable in the use of LICOR portable photosynthesis system and other gas exchange equipment associates with photosynthesis;
- Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills for scientific writing.

Researcher – Biology (RRS-2009-79-HL)
Basic purpose:
To conduct experiments on genetics of disease resistance in IR64 mutants derived from blast screen. To screen for disease reaction to blast and bacterial blight pathogens in mutant populations, and analyze disease reaction data. To generate double mutants and apply molecular markers to dissect the genetic control of resistance/susceptibility.

Course: BS Biology (genetics), plant pathology, or plant breeding

Qualification requirements:
- Preferably 2-3 years' relevant experience;
- Basic knowledge of plant breeding and molecular biology techniques;
- Proficiency in the use of computer and software packages such as MS Word, Excel,and PowerPoint;
- Good written and oral communication skills;
- Knowledge of relevant statistical analysis software such as SAS and Mapmaker.

Basic purpose:

Officer – Molecular Breeding Biologist (PRS-2009-41-TM)
Basic purpose:
To participate in a team of curators for CIMMYT within the DTMA and WEMA projects

Course: BS Molecular Biology

Qualification requirements:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in database use and administration;
- Database administration;
- Knowledge in relational database programming using database platform- independent access;
- Strong motivation and ability for self-management of time and resources.

Researcher – Plant Pathology/Biology/Plant Breeding (PRS-2009-50-CV)
Basic purpose:
To provide support to the Master Agreement regarding the provision of Genotyping Services between CIMMYT and IRRI.

Course: BS Plant Pathology, BS Biology, BS Agri – agronomy

Qualification requirements:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience;
- Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques;
- Use of computer software such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint;
- Gel documentation and analysis software;
- Use of statistical software such as Mapmaker, SAS, NTSYS, Q gene.

Researcher – Agronomy (PRS-2009-09-FX)
Basic purpose:
To manage nurseries of hybrid rice seed production, hybrid rice yield trials, and hybrid germplasm seed inventory.

Course: BS Agri - Agronomy

Qualification requirements:
- preferably minor in Plant Breeding;
- MS units in plant breeding and/or minimum of 3 years work experience on rice research, plant breeding, and/or seed production will be an advantage;
- Must be familiar with plant breeding and/or seed production work, computer literate, has supervisory skills, proficient in oral and written English, and must know how to drive.

Researcher – Crop Physiology (PRS-2008-32-PV)
Basic purpose:
To conduct research on the morphological and physiological traits of different plant types for enhancing the yield potential of rice

Course: BS Agriculture major in Agronomy, Crop Physiology, Plant Breeding, or Genetics.

Qualification requirements:
- 3-5 years field and laboratory experience
- Good knowledge in crop physiology; experience of working in the laboratory and field; handling of plant breeding/crop physiology experiments
- Field management and supervisory skills
- Computer skills (Windows Operating System, MS Word, MS Excel, Statistical Analysis
